Job Description
Food Recipe Editor, TODAY Digital (PEP)

Responsibilities

Want to work with one of America's most beloved and trusted brands? The TODAY Digital team is a force of creativity, imagination and collaboration. We're currently looking for a strong and creative Food Recipe Editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a trusted passion in all things culinary with proven expertise. The person in this role will be responsible for assigning, editing and publishing recipe and food content while driving the brand forward to the next generation of audiences. This is a full-time temporary position.

This is a one-year position beginning in October 2022 and ending in October 2023. Candidates must be available to work 35-40 hours per week. This is a hybrid position (in person in our New York City office Tuesdays-Thursdays with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays).

Responsibilities:
• Assign, edit and publish recipes for TODAY Food.
• Oversee all stages of recipe creation for our shoppable recipe program.
• Act as quality control for recipes published across TODAY Food digital and broadcast packages.
• Oversee monthly recipe assignments with freelancer recipe developers.
• Work closely with SEO to assign search-friendly, seasonal recipes and packages.
• Ensure recipes meet AP style guidelines.
• Work closely with broadcast bookers, producers and correspondents on recipe-related segments and digital content.
• Run cross-platform projects that may have text and multimedia elements on air, online and on social and newsletter platforms.
• Be quick and accurate: Typos drive you crazy. Factual errors keep you up at night. You stay calm under pressure, think fast and turn solutions around quickly. You're familiar and have worked with AP Style.

Qualifications
• 3-4 years of writing and recipe editing experience
• A portfolio of skills: Strong and fast writing and editing; clever and SEO-friendly tactics
• Appreciation for TODAY's broad range of topics and personalities - from hard news to entertainment to lifestyle, celebrities and newsmakers to ordinary individuals, with a good grasp of topics and stories of high interest to women and young families - is required.
• A gut instinct for a good story. You're decisive on angles and assignments and write in a fun, clear TODAY-friendly voice. If you love to spot a story as it's going viral and have a great sense of what will turn into a talker before it's all over the internet, this is the job for you.
• Must be willing to work in New York City
• Beyond excellent journalistic chops, you should bring a work hard, play hard mentality to our newsroom.
• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
• Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.

Desired Characteristics:
• Experience creating and editing recipe content.
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to prioritize while multitasking.
• Desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive but highly rewarding news environment
• Comfort being an independent self-starter, but also part of a multi-location, multi-time zone team
• Active awareness of TODAY personalities and brands
• A robust and diverse source list built out surrounding the health beat
• Speaks fluent Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, and has ideas for how to harvest and promote stories on social platforms.
• Savvy with CrowdTangle, Domo and Chartbeat: You use analytics to help guide story selection and pivot based on performance.

Salary range: $75,000 - $90,000
