Job Description
The Senior Health Writer will be a key member of the Flow Space editorial team, working closely with the Health Editor to create content for the emerging women's health brand Flow Space. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable and passionate about midlife women's health and have a proven track record for creating best-in-class digital editorial content in our key categories, including reproductive health, conditions and treatments, mental and brain health, heart health and more. In addition the candidate should be highly informed about the latest trends in health span optimization, and enthusiastic about in-market reporting and product testing.
Th role will also work closely with our Health Advisory Board and Health Cohort within the SHE Media Collective to source and create science-driven health content. This includes interviewing experts and community members for first-person essays and quotes in our own original content, as well as creating content to support their key initiatives. The Flow Space Senior Health Writer will also stay on top of women's health research and news to extract the health issues and services impacting women today
The Senior Health Writer should be traffic-minded and have excellent news judgement, the ability to write clean and fast copy, and knowledge on SEO best practices and how to package content for multiple distribution platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Pitch and write engaging high-quality health content for Flow Space across key categories of reproductive health, mental health, physical health and interpersonal health
• A clean, fast writer who can meet deadlines, produce 3 to 4 articles per day, including quick news hits, roundups and reported features, and eventually self-publish
• Optimize content for SEO, social, syndication and other referral sources, and leverage traffic analytics to increase engagement and grow audience
• Build relationships and engage with external health experts
• Stay current on latest trends and developments in health to inform content strategies and communications
• E-commerce experience is a plus
Requirements:
• 5-7 years of professional writing/editing experience, specifically with online health and wellness brands
• Strong editorial judgment and ability to distill complex scientific information into easily digestible and engaging content for readers
• Well-versed in digital strategy, analytics and SEO best practices
• A passion for women's health and strong roster of industry contacts
As PMC values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
Typical wage range: $85k - $90k. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range.
