Responsibilities

NBC News is looking for skilled cross-platform journalists to participate in the Decision 2024 political embed program. The candidates have the potential to travel full-time with presidential candidates and/or live in primary states which will prove critical to the 2024 election. You will report and produce content across all NBCU News Group platforms, including NBC News, MSNBC, NBC News NOW, NBCNews.com, MeetthePress.com and more.

Political embeds will be NBC News' principal contact with the campaigns and will be responsible for editorial and element gathering while in the field. This is a 100% travel position. Once the position ends, you will be expected to return to your current role/show/program/business.

Essential Responsibilities
• Represent NBC News at all times with integrity according to our policy and standards
• Produce multiple daily ''readouts'' that summarize the key editorial points and soundbites from the day's political events; and ability to anticipate the following day's storyline
• Utilize all cross-platform field journalism skills including, but not limited to: shooting political events, providing live transmission, element gathering for shows/packages, and social media.
• Contribute rolling content for all platforms in a breaking news environment
• Ability to field produce, coordinate live-shots and book guests for shows as needed
• Ability to develop sources and write for digital platforms under deadline
• Potential and ability to appear on-air through the entire cycle is a must

Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadlines often with little or no warning (i.e. breaking news)
• Must be willing to travel 100% of the time
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
• Must have a valid US driver's license
• Must be willing to supply handles/screen names for all personal social media accounts
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of professional news production experience, either with a show, bureau or assignment desk
• Must have a Bachelor's degree

Desired Qualifications
• Strong grasp of the US political landscape, current events and public policy
• Strong understanding of NBC News Policies and Standards
• Sound news judgment and commitment to fairness and accuracy
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Strong on camera capability and ability to communicate complex matters with ease
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and multi-task with speed and efficacy
• Proficiency in all aspects of production including but not limited to shooting, writing and editing stories for various NBCU platforms – which include cable, digital, streaming and network
