Job Description
MSNBC is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Washington Bureau Chief, Deputy Bureau Chief and the operational needs of the DC newsgathering team.
You'll be a key player in the launch of MSNBC's Newsgathering operation as an essential member of the team. The ideal candidate will have a start-up mentality and an eagerness to take on new projects and responsibilities that grow with the bureau. You'll wear many hats in supporting our journalists and advancing our journalism.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform general administrative duties (i.e. answering telephones, scheduling/planning meetings, filing, planning travel arrangements for executives, submitting expense reports, etc.)
• Prepare and update correspondence, reports, and documents using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Assist on ad hoc projects and other miscellaneous duties assigned by supervisors
• Maintain basic knowledge of current news events
• Organize internal and external visits with government officials, newsmakers, News Group and media partners
• Assist in research and other editorial projects and operational needs
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
• At least 2 years experience in television production
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and overnights, under tight deadline pressure, occasionally with little or no warning (e.g. breaking news).
• Must be willing to work in Washington, DC

• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
• Experience with newsrooms and newsgathering operations
• Excellent administrative, organizational and time management skills
• Professional phone and office manner, including when handling high-level confidential and sensitive company information
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
• Ability to take initiative and self-start
• Ability to manage relationships with clients, and interact with senior leadership and talent across the organization

Salary range: $26-$31/hour
