Job Summary/Description:
Arizona's Family is looking for an experienced Assignment Editor /Digital Content Producer to lead our weekend desk. The ideal candidate must remain calm during breaking news while evaluating resources, making editorial decisions, and communicating clearly and effectively with the team. During the weekdays, this person will primarily focus on producing digital content.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
- Plan and execute multi-platform news coverage
- Assist with the daily flow of news to the newsroom for appropriate coverage on-air and on the station's digital/ streaming platforms
- Manage logistics and resources
- Communicate clearly and effectively with broadcast and digital producers, field crews
- Gather meaningful news information from various sources; generate story ideas, discern credible news tips, and assign news crews
- Monitor scanners, email, and social media for breaking news
- Create and publish content to digital and social media platforms
- Copy-edit web story submissions from reporters and other newsroom personnel
- Understand and prioritize Search Engine Optimization when writing and posting articles
- Make data-driven decisions to optimize engagement and curate the AZFamily app and homepage
- Livestream events using station technology on our website and streaming app
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience
- At least two years working the newsroom assignment desk (or equivalent experience)
- Outstanding editorial skills, interpersonal communication skills, and time management skills
- Working knowledge of AP Style and social media platforms
- Scheduling flexibility is required
- Basic knowledge of video and still photography, and editing
- Experience with ENPS is a plus
