Job Summary/Description:
KAIT, Gray Media's Number 1 station in Jonesboro, Arkansas, is searching for the next anchor for its #1-rated 10 P.M. newscasts. The ideal candidate will be energetic, passionate, and aggressive about covering the news that matters to our viewers. When not on the news desk, this anchor will investigate the issues and challenges our community faces. This person will exhibit all of the tenets of investigative journalism, including holding the powerful accountable, getting answers, and advocating for the people of Region 8.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Anchoring top-rated 10 P.M. newscasts
• Researching, gathering, shooting, writing, and editing news stories for on-air and online
• Completing regular franchises or special investigative reports
• Writing in a clear, concise, conversational manner
• Reporting ''live'' on the scene during breaking news or weather
• Developing and maintaining sources of information
• Demonstrating sound news judgment
• Participating in story selection meetings
• Posting and regularly updating stories and other material on the web and social media
• Interacting with viewers on social media
• Meeting tight deadlines and working well under pressure
• Performing other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
• At least two years of experience in a commercial newsroom
• Bachelor's in journalism or related field preferred
• Knowledge of ENPS and Edius is a plus
• Clean driving record
