Your Impact:
Harper's Bazaar seeks an ambitious and creative digital director to oversee the content on its digital and social platforms. This role reports to the Editor-in-Chief and is responsible for shaping the editorial vision for the site and developing enterprising content. The ideal candidate is someone whose expansive curiosity and knowledge of fashion, the fashion industry and culture is equaled by their expertise at building, leading, and nurturing a team. They should have a strong sense of story, sharp editing skills, and know how to contribute to the daily cultural conversation. This position calls for a strategic thinker and deft manager who can both see the big picture and sweat the details. Must have deep experience with assigning and editing features (fashion, culture, politics, profiles, essays, etc.). Ability to lead a team to meet goals (traffic, social, e-commerce, SEO) is crucial, as is the ability to concept and execute collaborative tentpole packages across print, digital, social, and events. The candidate should be able to call on established writers as well as up-and-coming voices to produce an engaging mix of news, service, social-led franchises, and more.

Job Responsibilities:
• Work with Deputy Digital Editor to oversee all content on the brand's website and social platforms
• Work with EIC and Executive Editor to develop a strategy to engage the digital audience, while ensuring that the content is timely, elevated, and fits the brand's visual identity and voice
• Mentor, manage, and grow a talented team of editors
• Collaborate with print, video, and digital teams to create and execute ambitious editorial packages
• Work with ad sales, audience development, and e-commerce teams to execute on shared goals
• Work with Executive Managing Editor on maintaining the content budget thoughtfully and strategically
• Meet established editorial goals and deadlines
• Actively seek out new and diverse voices
Qualifications:
• 8 to 9 years of post-grad experience working in fashion editorial, with at least 5 in digital and social
• 3+ years of experience managing a team
• Strong editing skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
• Robust network of freelance writers, specifically new voices for the brand
• Deep understanding of Google and social analytics and SEO, and a strategic mindset
• Experience with affiliate programs
• Experience working with sales, e-commerce, and branded-content teams to build out editorial programs and create revenue-generating content
• Passion for fashion, news, culture, and current affairs and the ability to shape stories that move the conversation forward
The base salary for this role is between $145,000 and $174,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
