Job Description

O, The Oprah Magazine is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and resourceful assistant editor to join the features team, working directly for the deputy editor. The ideal candidate has 2 years of post-graduate editorial experience and is an idea machine who is detail-oriented and blessed with an inborn sense of good time management. Responsibilities include researching, pitching, and writing small front-of-book pieces, as well as contributing to the website, plus some administrative duties, such as scheduling and phones. Familiarity with InCopy is a plus. NOTE: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in .pdf format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to clips.

Responsibilities:
• Researching, pitching, and writing short articles for the front pages of the print edition
• Researching, pitching, and writing pieces for the website
• Providing administrative support to the deputy editor (scheduling meetings, answering the phone, and other duties as needed)

Requirements:
• Two years of professional post-grad editorial experience at a consumer magazine or website, preferably a lifestyle brand
• An understanding of the voice and viewpoint of Oprah Magazine and oprahmag.com
• A clean, fun writing style
• A willingness to pitch in where needed
• Bachelor's degree
