Fox Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of US television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, DC and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Seattle.

JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX 26 HOUSTON is seeking a digitally-minded reporter who is passionate about breaking news and breaking stories of interest to our community on-line and on-air. This candidate must have excellent writing abilities for on-air stories as well as for writing AP style web copy. This candidate must be a self-starter and possess strong story-telling skills as well as be creative in their presentation. Must possess excellent live on camera reporting and interviewing skills in breaking news and other unscripted situations.

Candidate must also have the ability to report live from the field via Facebook Live, StreamYard and other platforms including Live U for TV broadcasts as needed. Make sure to include links to your live reports as well as samples of your digital contributions. This candidate must want to own the big story and be able to develop sources. This position requires the ability to shoot and edit independently for all platforms. It also requires the ability to effectively work with the team in collaboration with producers, associate producers, production staff, photographers and managers. Must engage on social media in accordance with newsroom digital newsroom standards. Accuracy in reporting and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines is required. Strong computer skills and knowledge of I-News preferred. Ability to disseminate crowdsourced material while maintaining newsroom standards for fact-checking information for air and digital platforms. Perform other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate.

Minimum 2-5 years on-camera experience in a medium or major market preferred. Bachelor's degree required; journalism or a related field preferred. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours/shifts/shows; early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays may be required. Must have a valid credit card and driver's license. Candidate with Spanish language fluency preferred.
