ESPN Creative Studio is a unit within the Content division of ESPN. Our staff comprises of Motion Graphics, Edit, Visual Storytelling, Production Enhancements and Innovations, Creative Operations, and the Music group. Positions within Creative Studio include; Video Editors, Post Editors, Producer Editors, Sound Design, Graphic Designers, Project Managers and Art Directors, etc. We are the go-to destination to conceptualize, develop, and execute content creation across all domestic and international ESPN distribution platforms.
Position Summary:
The Producer Editor position within Creative Studio is a versatile video production specialist; combining an advanced set of creative talents including: editing, writing, and producing to create a variety of sports content requests across all ESPN platforms. The Producer Editor needs to be collaborative with Production partners, on-air talent, and a team of content creation professionals across departments, while also working independently to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate an advanced command of storytelling to deliver unique content to a variety of Production clients within strict established deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to manage simultaneous creative projects and assignments, and follow through to meet all critical deadlines.
• Demonstrate advanced operating and production skillsets, which includes: high profile video editing, writing, conceptualizing, storytelling, sports knowledge, foundational graphic creation, searching and restoring archival media, networking, and the development of unique project ideas to engage sports fans.
• Has an advanced awareness of ESPN programming and audience base, including broadcast, digital, streaming, and social.
• Take the lead role on special productions, events, or projects with a focus on producing and editing unique creative content.
• Communicate and collaborate with vested stakeholders from other departments and external clients.
• Share examples of projects and feedback widely for awareness of team contributions and accomplishments.
• Provide exceptional service to all partners and colleagues.
• Advanced organization, project management, communication, attention to detail, and planning skills are required.
• Conducts the highest level of quality control measuring and take corrective action to enhance the product/content. Ensuring all content created adheres to ESPN's high standards for video and audio quality, and follows all established media organization and naming conventions.
• Document and file reports on short or long-term project progress.
• Participate in training programs, (physical, classroom, virtual, etc.) for personal career development. Also expected to participate in the training of others and generate necessary documentation.
• Identify and quickly escalate issues. Recommend solutions and/or resolve operational errors and equipment failures.
Qualifications:
• 4 + yrs experience producing and editing sports content.
• Advanced skills using non-linear editing software ( Adobe Premiere , Avid, Grass Valley Qube, Edius , etc. ).
• Demonstrates foundational skills in graphic design software (A fter Effects , Photoshop).
• Demonstrates an advanced level of production skillsets including writing, conceptualizing, storytelling, sports knowledge, and development of unique projects to drive results.
• Advanced communication and troubleshooting abilities.
• Demonstrates peer leadership and trains others.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility to work overtime and alter shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.
• Candidates must have good computer background (MS Office, Slack, Work Front, file formatting, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
• ENG camera experience (shooting, lighting, audio recording, etc.).
• ENPS experience.
• Knowledge of PC and Mac operating systems.
• Bilingual (written and spoken) in both English and Spanish.
Required Education:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or related field
• Vocational School or related experience
