As a forward-looking HR professional supporting our ESPN organization, you will serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership by developing and delivering integrated and inclusive HR Services Strategy Development, Organization Design, Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Change & Transition Management, DE&I and Functional HR Integration.

Position Summary:

Sitting at the intersection of our Business and Human Resources, the Director, HR Business Partner will contribute to and lead the execution of human resources strategies and tactics to support the needs of the executive leaders and employees within their assigned client group. In collaboration with their client groups, HR specialty groups and other HR Business Partners, this role will serve as an expert consultant on all talent matters, including organizational effectiveness, leader effectiveness, change management, organizational design, employee relations and learning opportunities. This role will lead a small team of HR Professionals and will be based at the ESPN Bristol, CT campus.

Responsibilities:
• Provides ongoing strategic HR Leadership and consultation focused on creating innovative HR strategies to anticipate and assess emerging business, organization, and people trends.
• Provides expert guidance to business leaders and employees in all major HR areas, talent acquisition, organization development, performance management, talent planning and career development, employee relations, leadership development, employee communications, compensation and rewards, learning, etc.
• Strategizes and drives organizational development initiatives to ensure that the design, capabilities, processes, and culture of the organization deliver the business strategy.
• Maintains effective level of business literacy to provide a consultative approach to deliver HR services. Leverages HR/Business skills and knowledge to challenge or influence leadership in decision making process.
• Assess culture of the workplace with a focus on employee relations. Develops and drives strategies that foster an environment where all employees are respected and valued.
• Develops thoughtful, integrated approaches to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in talent attraction, development, and retention.
• Leads a team of HRBPs and leverages a wider shared services team to provide first class strategic business partnering and responsive, quality service to all employees within the client groups.
• Develops direct team to levels of high performance and enables individuals to grow and reach their potential. Accountable for the performance and results of the team they manage.
• Executes the Talent Management process to identify current and forecasted talent needs develop action plans to mitigate associated risk and improve confidence in future successor readiness to enable business objectives.
• Assess employee training and development needs based on business strategy to help close gaps between current and future skill set needs. Conducts certain training, such as Fair Employment Practices and PPR training.
• Partners with Compensation team to manage pay for performance program including annual merit increase, bonus, promotion and out of cycle requests.
• Coordinates and partners with other Human Resources professionals to implement Human Resources projects and initiatives with company-wide impact
• Oversees/assists in the day-to-day delivery of Human Resources services to and the resolution of Human Resources issues arising at assigned ESPN clients.
• Implements, monitors, enforces, and interprets Human Resources policies and procedures applicable to assigned clients.
• Analyzes trends and metrics, collaborates with HR functional experts to develop solutions, and make recommendations.
• Applies a broad range of standard analytical techniques and independent judgment to defining problems and to evaluating several alternatives and to developing solutions.
• Operates effectively with minimal supervision on routine matters & on more complex matters.
• Handles complex and important initiatives that can influence several internal and external customers.

Qualifications:
• 8 plus years in increasingly responsible Human Resources roles including senior level business partnering experience.
• Must have strong OD and change management skills with experience partnering with businesses going through significant org transformations on a global scale.
• Proven track record of establishing credibility and delivering first class business partner experience to leadership, seen as the key partner in major business decisions.
• Business oriented, able to understand the organization from a commercial and operational point of view as well as from a people perspective.
• Track record of influencing executives, mid-level and senior management.
• Possesses both strategic thinking capability and ''hands on'' HR plan implementation experience – able to strategically conceive of a new ways of doing things and then pragmatically turn concepts into action.
• Strong influence, interpersonal and analytical skills and overall leadership capability.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated strong facilitation and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Proven knowledge of HR industry practices.
• Proven experience in managing multiple projects with strong prioritization skills in fast paced environment.
• Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws pertaining to the employment relationship.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with technology organizations is preferred or other fast paced, constantly changing global functions.

Required Education
• BA/BS in Business, HR or related field and/or equivalent combination of experience.

Preferred Education:
• MBA is a plus.
