Job Description
ESPN Creative Studio is a unit within the Content division of ESPN. Our staff comprises of Motion Graphics, Edit, Visual Storytelling, Production Enhancements and Innovations, Creative Operations, and the Music group. Positions within Creative Studio include; Video Editors, Post Editors, Producer Editors, Sound Design, Graphic Designers, Project Managers and Art Directors, etc. We are the go-to destination to conceptualize, develop, and execute content creation across all domestic and international ESPN distribution platforms.

The Audio Design Editor, a Creative Studio position, will take on sound design project responsibilities that support and enhance creative content. The aspects of the sound designing role include the following areas: oversee projects, collaboration with Production partners, reviews audio in editors' work in order to provide feedback, and training. They utilize sound design tools and software such as Pro Tools, Premiere, Logic, Cakewalk, etc. They develop personnel, projects, and individual skillsets that propel Edit and Creative Studio into the future. The Audio Design Editor is deadline driven and prioritizes projects and initiatives with peers, production partners, and collaborators.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee audio projects solo and as a part of the Sound Design team.
• Responsible for developing editors' audio sweetening skillset in conjunction with sound design workflows.
• Maintain a knowledge of audio sweetening and trends to stay updated with the industry.
• Develop creative opportunities with production partners and collaborators to ensure an efficient provision of resources and personnel to achieve desired results.
• Oversees and audio sweetens a wide range of assignments and equipment within the Sound Design environment at an experienced level.
• Knowledge of project specifications, equipment, and troubleshooting practices.
• Recommend adjustments as well as project needs while maintaining maximum creativity and flexibility.
• Assist the team in implementing development initiatives to improve creativity and audio competency of the Edit staff.
• Must have the ability to train and learn new techniques and software platforms that align with industry needs and trends.
• Must have basic knowledge to troubleshoot equipment and software issues.

Basic Qualifications:
• A minimum of 2 years of audio sweetening or related audio experience.
• Mixing experience within a DAW (Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Cakewalk, Sonar, Logic, Ableton Live, etc.)
• Knowledge of time based processing (reverb, delay, etc.)
• Knowledge of spectral processing (EQ, filters, etc.)
• Knowledge of dynamic processing (compression, expansion, gates, etc.)
• Ability to work in a team under tight deadlines is critical.
• Candidates must have good computer background (MS Office, Slack, Work Front, file formatting, etc.)
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility to work overtime and alter shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficient in Avid Pro tools and signal flow.
• Familiar with sound for picture workflows.
• Ability to research, cut, and conform sound effects and music.
• Skilled in dialogue, sound effects, and music editing.
• The ability to organize sound effects libraries.
• Knowledge of Adobe Media Encoder.
• Has in-depth knowledge and can further develop in sound design and audio sweetening.
• Knowledge of PC or Mac operating systems.
• Bilingual (written and spoken) in both English and Spanish.

Required Education
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Sound Recording, Audio, Music, or related field
• Vocational School or related experience
