What We Do
Our team of UX researchers provide rigorous research support and insights for all of our games and products. Our goal is to be the voice of our players and users, and help the designer-intended experience for them be realized.
What You'll Do
Epic Games is searching for a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher to work directly with cross-functional teams to plan, execute, evaluate, and share insights from user testing using a variety of methods. You'll be instrumental in helping us shape the look and feel of both our game and non game products, and in increasing the quality and overall user experience for all Epic Games products.
In this role, you will
• Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative user research tests for a suite of games and products and their interactions within the Epic ecosystem
• Own the research process from screening participants to defining test plans, analyzing the data, and writing reports
• Choose and define appropriate metrics that reflect the quality of user experience as well as the impact of design changes
• Effectively communicate methodologies and results, focusing on actionable recommendations
• Moderation of various types of consumer tests, including usability and general playtests
• Influence research strategy across the team, optimizing the impact across Epic's products
• Ability to generate new methodologies that will pertain to each product's unique gameplay and focus areas
• Explore new tools and process improvements to constantly improve how the User Experience team functions and delivers value
• Mentorship within the UXR team to grow the research skills and knowledge across the team
What we're looking for
• 6+ years of experience with UX Research or similar research experience (i.e. relevant user research skills in gaming or relevant postgraduate research). 2+ years of experience in the game industry outside of academia
• A degree in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related field
• A passion for games and games user experience
• Expert in planning and executing both generative and evaluative UX research methods within the gaming industry
• Familiarity adapting UXR methods to maximize impact at any stage in the development cycle
• Demonstrable experience generating high impact research findings informing product strategy and development using a variety of formats
• Excellent presentation skills and experience reinforcing and advocating for UX research findings across the development cycle
• Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to take a variety of primary and secondary source materials across multiple organizations to craft actionable and unbiased recommendations
• Experience building deep connections with stakeholders, strong interpersonal skills, ability to quickly build rapport, and establish credibility
• Curious and creative; enjoys complex issues and problem solving
