What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a Senior Gameplay Designer to join us in working on LEGO Fortnite. In this role, you'll utilize your gameplay experience, design sensibilities, and knowledge of the Unreal Engine to push the quality of the project forward and invent ways to delight players with exciting new gameplay experiences.

In this role, you will
• Own the implementation of major systems from start to finish, driving the vision forward in a cohesive way with the rest of the product
• Be the go-to person for the implementation of complex content that stretches the capabilities of existing systems and that requires heavy artist/designer/programmer interaction
• Be an advocate for player experience and create compelling user stories
• Lead by example to set the quality bar for design; Work closely with production to identify, prioritize, assign, and evaluate design work
• Actively participate in big-picture decisions and ensure the design team focuses on the correct elements to achieve superior results
• Drive collaborative and iterative prototyping, both paper-based and in-game
• Attend playtests, provide feedback, and identify practical solutions to problems

What we're looking for
• 5+ years of game design experience with multiple shipped titles
• Mastery of visual scripting languages, preferably Blueprints
• A broad, cross-disciplinary skill set is highly valued since we have a lean team
• Ability to communicate your ideas and collaborate with others
• Create clear and concise design specs
• Strong verbal communication of ideas to the team
• Creating your own functional prototypes
• Experience with network replication
• Familiarity with Fortnite and Epic Games suite of products

Epic Games is looking for a Sr. Writer to join our team working on LEGO Fortnite. As a writer on LEGO Fortnite, you'll work directly with the Epic Writing team and the LEGO Fortnite Gameplay Design team to create and maintain compelling and engaging scripts using LEGO Fortnite's unique reactive dialogue system. We're looking for a writer with a strong sense of humor, a collaborative approach, and the ability to write scripts across multiple styles and genres. The ideal candidate will have experience both creating original characters and writing within established guidelines for existing properties. While this is a writing focused role, the writer will be expected to collaborate with Gameplay Designers to create scripts that take advantage of LEGO Fortnite's reactive dialogue system.

In this role, you will
• Writing NPC scripts for LEGO Fortnite NPCS
• Collaborating with LEGO Fortnite Gameplay Designers
• Working directly with LEGO Fortnite Gameplay Designers to create and maintain compelling characters
• Providing naming support for cosmetic content as need
• Attending team meetings and playtests
• Assisting in LEGO Fortnite cinematic script production
• Providing writing support across projects if and when required

What we're looking for
• Experience with comedic writing, and a drive to create uniquely funny scripts
• Ability to write in multiple styles and formats including in-game vo scripts and written assets, animated shorts, trailers, video content, and stage demos
• Collaborative mindset and a willingness to iterate rapidly
• Experience delivering quality content on a tight deadline
• The ability to demonstrate an understanding of Fortnite's tone and style
• Quest design experience
• Script pitching experience
• Experience with the Unreal Engine
• Live game experience
• Copy editing experience
