Job Description
UX DESIGN
What We Do
We design customer and user-focused experiences that are fresh and innovative, while problem solving by anticipating user behavior and hurdles. We approach the most complex of problems and address them with simple, intuitive, and useful solutions.
What You'll Do
We're seeking a Principal UX Designer to help shape the future of Fortnite and the broader Epic ecosystem. You'll join a design team responsible for Fortnite's user experience, where designers are embedded with our product and programming teams while being critically mindful of the holistic journeys we create for users. In this role, you'll be involved in every stage of the product lifecycle, from framing future-forward concepts to delivering polished, player-ready features. You'll work across disciplines to bring ideas to life, collaborating with game designers, product managers, UI artists, tech UI designers, and programmers to deliver experiences that engage millions of players worldwide.
In this role, you will
• Shape product vision and strategy in close collaboration with Fortnite leadership, providing a strong, informed design perspective
• Drive design execution by delivering screens, prototypes, and specifications that clearly communicate solutions and inspire teams
• Facilitate ideation and concept development, championing new ideas that align with product goals while elevating the overall player experience
• Collaborate with cross-discipline peers to ensure alignment across product, production, and programming teams
• Collaborate with other design leaders to build a shared process, design system, and cross-product pattern libraries
What we're looking for
• You are a skilled storyteller and presenter. You clearly articulate the 'why' and 'what' behind ideas, fostering team motivation and understanding
• You possess a comprehensive understanding of building best-in-class end-to-end product experiences.
• You know how to identify the most appropriate tool for a given task. You know when a deck, prototype, or design specification is most appropriate, and you leverage each to communicate ideas and solutions effectively
• You provide clear and effective feedback to other designers and can respectfully navigate difficult conversations
• You take ownership of the craft and quality of your work, ensuring products meet a high bar. Proactively collaborating with the team, you identify and pursue opportunities for improvement when necessary
• You have a track record of proactively building and maintaining relationships with cross-discipline teams, design peers, and upper management
• You have a passion for making and playing games, a strong sense of player empathy, and consistently demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and a genuine commitment to personal growth and development
• Please submit a portfolio of relevant design work that conveys your experience in designing and shipping successful products across multiple platforms (mobile, PC, and console platforms)
