GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER TRAINEE
What You'll Do
We are looking for a Gameplay Programmer Trainee to join us on the Fortnite Gameplay Engineering team, working on exciting new features for Fortnite: Battle Royale. As a Gameplay Programming Trainee, you will work on a small, cross-disciplinary team. You will get the opportunity to learn from senior mentors, and build new exciting gameplay features for future seasons of Battle Royale.
In this role, you will
• Contribute to the design and implementation of new game systems and features
• Optimize and fix bugs in existing systems
• Be a team player, learning with your peers and helping others as you go
• Collaborate with a globally diverse team of developers consisting of design, art, QA, and production
• Write robust, maintainable code with extensibility in mind
What we're looking for
• Strong C++ programming skills
• A passion for games and an intuitive sense for gameplay design
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude to dig into unfamiliar systems
• Unreal Engine development experience
• Perseverance when facing frustration, someone who understands that it's expected to not get the assignment right in the first attempts, but keep trying. Also, that receives feedback well, adjusts and adapts. No space for ego
• Strong communicator. Quick and effective when reaching out to the team to solve problems, knows when a task is tricky enough to reach for senior teammates. Also ability to effectively sync information with multiple teams and manage to keep attention to multiple aspects at same time
This trainee program has a flexible start date in 2026. Recruitment will be ongoing until teams find an ideal match.
