What you’ll do
Epic Games is looking for Game Designers, ranging from mid-level to experienced seniors, to join our team. In this role, you'll utilize your AI experience and knowledge of design tools to push the quality of the project and delight players with fresh experiences.
In this role, you will
Design engaging experiences utilizing Unreal behavior systems to create emergent behavior between players and AI.
Owns implementation of large parts of these experiences from start to finish. Blueprint Scripting, Replication, replays etc
Be the go-to person for the implementation of complex content that stretches the capabilities of existing systems, or projects that require heavy artist/designer/engineer interaction
Be an advocate for player experience and create compelling user stories
What we’re looking for
3+ years of game design experience with at least one shipped game
Strong familiarity with visual scripting languages; preferably Blueprints.
Ability to understand and create compelling relationships for AI with players, items, and other AI within a multiplayer environment.
A strong, innate sense of design willing to proactively identify design and technical issues and willing to tackle or get help when appropriate.
Ability to communicate your ideas and collaborate with others
Create clear and concise design specs
Strong verbal communication of ideas to the team
Passionate, scrappy, solutions-focused, and innovative
Capable of pulling together resources to create assets from scratch to shippable by collaborating with the respective teams across multiple disciplines
Well versed in behavior systems (eg. Behavior trees) and interactions with players and AI
Technically competent and able to work autonomously in a small team environment within a larger team
Ability to create your own functional prototypes.
Nice to have skills
Deep familiarity with Fortnite Battle Royale
Experience with network replication
