What You'll Do
Epic Games is searching for a Lead Cosmetic Animator to join our team working on Fortnite. A successful candidate should have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of animation and how they relate to game animation. They should also be able to implement animations in the Unreal Engine and have experience leading animation teams to successful delivery.
In this role, you will
• Oversee and review multiple animation assets from outsource vendors
• Create character-specific animations in Maya using our in-house rigs and tools, as well as animate directly in Unreal Engine
• Provide direction to and collaborate with multiple disciplines (FX, Audio, Rigging, Modeling, etc) to take initial concepts and fully realize them into a shippable product
• Ensure each animation works successfully in the game, free of technical bugs and glitches, and is shipped at the highest quality standard
• Be a point of contact for bug support, triage, and resolution of animation assets
What we're looking for
• A strong animation reel showing expertise in hand-keyed third-person character or creature animation across multiple styles
• Strong performance/acting choices
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong multitasking skills
• Excellent communicator and problem solver
• Familiarity with the Unreal Engine 5 animation pipeline
• Relevant experience in Maya and Unreal gameplay systems
• Professional experience providing feedback for modeling, skinning, and rigging in relation to animation
• Experience having shipped at least one AAA title/feature film
• BONUS: Strong drawing skills
