Ripple Effect, an evolution of Battlefield's DICE LA, is a Los Angeles and Vancouver-based game studio on a mission to build community-first experiences through continuous innovation and boundary breaking technology.

We are looking for a VFX Artist to bring our virtual worlds to life. As an VFX artist, you will have experience with pyrotechnics and destruction. You will craft photorealistic effects under the guidance of our VFX Director.

You will report to our Art Line Manager, based in our studio in Los Angeles, California. We are considering on-site and hybrid working options, and welcome full-time remote candidates who are within Canada to apply.

Responsibilities:
• Produce photo realistic visual effects for organic & hard surface materials including water, explosions, fire, weapon fx, smoke, clouds, and debris.
• Craft creative solutions for creating visually stunning VFX within the performance budget of the project, managing asset file size and optimising effectively.
• Explore new tools & techniques for real-time effects generation.
• Create and maintain documentation for the VFX team to improve developer onboarding and cross studio collaboration.
• Work with the VFX lead and Production Director to estimate and plan tasks for upcoming milestones, breakdown deliverables, and share updates

Skills We Look For:
• A deep understanding of VFX packages to shatter, simulate, flood, and set fire to in-game geometry in real-time (example: EmberGen, FumeFx, RayFire, Houdini, Maya, Fluids, Alembic, Popcorn FX, MASH).
• 4+ years experience working with physically based rendering pipelines.
• Experience with Photogrammetry, PBR shaders, and achieving photorealistic outcomes,
• compatible with lighting and gameplay.
• Experience working with and contributing to resource libraries.

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):

º $89,300 - $123,000 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
