Quality Verification Tester (Temp)
This is a 90 day temporary assignment through PRO Unlimited. Assignment extensions are based solely on business need.
The QA Tester Role:
Quality Assurance Testers ('QA Testers') perform an important role in game development: testing, analyzing, and recording, any flaws or 'bugs.' These refinements lead to higher quality and better playability of the finished game. The job involves: testing the game in a systematic way, analyzing the game's performance against the designer's intentions, spotting inconsistencies, reporting issues, and suggesting improvements. However, it also involves creativity, which is used to figure how to 'break' the game in different and unique ways.
QA Tester Responsibilities:
QA Testers are issue seekers and verify the quality in the final product. You must know how to categorize bugs. You must understand production and marketing schedules. You will use a software quality management system to document your findings into a centralized database which is then shared with other EA QA groups worldwide. You will typically work in teams. Testing involves playing the same game repeatedly for weeks at a time, testing different levels and versions or revisions of the game. The work can be repetitive and tedious. You will need to anticipate different ways the game will be played by people around the world, and test accordingly.
The next great QA Tester:
You should also have a basic understanding of game design, how games are created, and how the different elements of a game contribute to the playing experience. You will not only identify and record a problem, but also try to work out what is causing it.
Above all, as a QA Testers, we prefer that you are avid players. You can demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the industry, including different platforms, game styles, and genres. It's important to know the market so they can evaluate our games against the competition and help improve the games we work on here at EABR.
Resumes are required with application submissions. Cover letters are optional.
All shifts are worked Monday through Friday. There are occasional opportunities for overtime.
There is a mandatory training week that lasts Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm beginning the first day of hire. This is a paid 40 hour training week. Pay rate begins as $13.50 per hour.
Upon passing the assessment at the end of training, you will begin one of the available shifts the following week.
All of our testers must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Our testers must be 18 years of age or older. Our testers will have basic knowledge of PC hardware, software, and a basic knowledge of Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets).
Interviews are designed to assess the candidates' ability to move forward in each step of the process.
