Just 13 miles south of Manchester and a 15-minute train journey, is the attractive market town of Wilmslow. Here amongst the boutique shops and independent cafes and bars is the stunning Playdemic studio. Acquired by EA in 2021, Playdemic is home to the top 10 grossing, BAFTA winning mobile smash – Golf Clash. Having opened at the beginning of 2020, our award-winning, bespoke studio space offers conventional desk space as well as indulgent breakout areas, meeting rooms and alternative workspaces. The office has been designed to create an environment that encourages and allows our team to do their very best work.

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join us at Playdemic! The Data Science team is responsible for providing services to Playdemic's game teams, including Golf Clash, the number one top grossing mobile sports game in North America.

For this Data Scientist role, we are looking for applied and practical AI/ML expertise with a focus on Mobile Games.

You will join us and bring expertise in the area of AI, ML, and engineering, to create innovative and class leading data products, solutions and services, working on efforts such as life cycle management, economics, and player experience.

Responsibilities
• You will work directly with our mobile game teams to understand their goals and create data products and solutions to solve for their use cases.
• You will focus on problem-driven approaches, applying pragmatic solutions to game team opportunities and decisions.
• You will communicate insights from data clearly to product and design stakeholders
• You will design and instrumentation of telemetry to track and measure impact of feature additions and feature changes in the game
• You will support product and design team with ad hoc analysis and insights
• You will also help build and maintain monitoring systems to keep track of multiple features in the game

Qualifications
• You have professional experience of working with large data sets and applying statistical techniques to help drive business decisions through data analysis and modeling
• You have experience in writing complex SQL queries and query optimization. No preference of database
• Sound understanding of mobile gaming/entertainment space, typical business models, game development practices and technology
• Experienced in analysing extremely complex, multi-dimensional data sets
• Familiarity in handling data with at least one scripting language. Python is preferred.
• Knowledgeable in different database/data warehouse technologies and are comfortable selecting the best option for different use cases.
• Experience using query languages and other analytic tools.
• Interest in games is a big plus.
