Job Description
Our Birmingham studio, set in the heart of the city, has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Technical Artist. Perhaps you are a recent graduate looking for your first opportunity within the games industry or you are looking for your first move to a AAA dev studio? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!

You will be able to get inside a game engine and code base and learn the workings of how it all comes together at the AAA level and help shape future award-winning Formula 1 experiences. Working within the technical art team, you will be tasked with supporting the art team and the project by providing tooling, techniques and advice. It's really important that you are a strong communicator and are comfortable in trading information with various parts of the dev team, such as graphics, tools, art and design.

We want you to be able to grow in to the role as you establish yourself and take ownership of tasks, making yourself available to colleagues across the project and identifying any issues that may have occurred and come up with solutions in collaboration with the team.

Key objectives of this role include:
• Creating, refining and bug fixing tools used by the art team
• Guide and assist art team members in the creation of project art
• Act as the bridge between art and code and help with the flow of ideas

We'd love to talk to you if you have:
• Relevant Degree or equivalent experience including specific Technical Art work and scripting languages
• Demonstrable 3DS Max experience - knowledge of Maxscript would be highly desirable but other scripting languages, such as Python, would also be beneficial
• Knowledge of game art creation and its use within a game engine
• Trouble-shooting and problem-solving characteristics
• Demonstrable ability to create art pipeline tools
• An analytical and inquisitive mind-set
• Strong communication skills

It would be great if you have knowledge of other code languages such as C#, C++, Java, as would having any experience in commercial game engines such as Unreal and Unity. Also, the ability to write shaders and knowledge of other art tools such as Photoshop, Houdini etc would also be great to know about when applying but please note that these are not essential requirements.

In return we provide:-
• Flexible working hours designed to fit around your life
• Significant benefits package including annual bonus scheme, private health care and dental cover for you and your family, enhanced pension scheme, employee discounted share scheme and much more!
• Dedicated training time for self-improvement
• 10 free games per year and a new console allowance!
• Incredible peer community of top-flight programmers in the games industry

Based in the heart of city-centre Birmingham, just minutes away from New Street, our beautiful studio is a hub of international creativity and design excellence year on year. We look forward to hearing how you can make us even better!
