Job Description

We are hiring a Lead Data Science Manager for one of our mobile titles under development. This is a critical position that will partner with key stakeholders in the game studio, working across multiple disciplines including design, UX, and game PMs, and will use his or her expertise in applied statistical modeling and machine learning to power and drive in-game decisions.

Responsibilities:
• You will use data techniques in your repertoire to gain insight into player behavior and to propose recommendations for in-game
• You will build predictive models and automated machine learning pipelines to guide both live services and game design with applicable insights, through analyzing high velocity streaming data
• You will design experiments and build visualizations to monitor and to better understand changes in important product metrics
• You bring the quantitative perspective but you will need to collaborate extensively with your creative teammates in Product and Design and influence using top quality insights
• You are able to manage the short-term priorities and analysis while still focusing on the long-term vision for the game. Mobile games are a blend of the creative side of game design and the hard math of live services, and you will need to understand both sides of that coin.

Qualifications:
• Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field OR 8+ years exp in the data industry
• 3-5 years of professional experience manipulating data sets, building statistical models, and productizing models along with a demonstrated experience applying Data Science methodologies to real-world problems.
• Expert status in analyzing extremely large, complex, multi-dimensional data sets with a variety of tools
• Sufficient data warehouse and non-relational data techniques knowledge to work effectively with engineering partners
• Strong programming experience in a system programming language such as C/C++ or Java.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language: R, Python, or Scala.
• Experience using SQL to query databases.
• Experience with any of the following is a big plus:
• Big data technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Pig
• Model production in Spark
• Application deployment using AWS, Virtual Machines, or Docker
• Experience managing teams of data scientists or analysts with a technical background

Games and gaming are changing. Over the next few years, that change is going to accelerate and without the proper knowledge and toolsets to exploit this, many developers will struggle to keep up with it. Our job on this team is to ensure that our studios are equipped with as much insight and clarity as possible to not only keep pace but become the shapers of that evolution, to help EA lead into the future. We find that exciting and we hope that you do, too.
