Associate Editor, Parents: Evergreen

Dotdash Meredith is seeking a full-time Associate Editor, focused on evergreen content, to join the editorial team of Parents, one of the largest and most well-respected parenting brands on the internet. We are looking for a digitally-savvy family and parenting enthusiast with top-tier editorial, communication, and project management skills.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Editor and work closely with the rest of the Evergreen team to execute our strategy that improves content quality and user experience, grows Parents traffic, and increases engagement on our site and extended platforms. You will manage a roster of freelance writers and will be tasked with assigning and editing new evergreen content in our core parenting categories, as well as working on large-scale update projects that support our long-term growth.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of what makes high-quality, credible content for today's families and has values deeply rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment is a must.

About Your Contributions:
• Ideate, assign, edit, optimize, and occasionally write new content according to our best practices for content quality, style, brand voice, and core values to meet monthly production and traffic goals.
• Manage writer assignments, pitches, questions, and editorial feedback on a regular basis, ensuring that best practices and new content volume goals are met.
• Conduct SEO-based keyword research and collaborate with growth team partners to make sure every piece of content is capturing reader intent and interest.
• Help editors with recruiting and onboarding a diverse team of freelance writers, reporters, and expert sources.
• Actively participate in day-to-day team meetings, trainings, and project priorities, sharing responsibilities, new ideas, and valuable feedback with team members.
• Support large-scale editorial improvement projects and processes, including topic-level content audits, that enhance the quality of our library and user experience.
• Support and contribute to processes for fact-checkers and Expert Review Board members to improve content quality.
• Contribute to priority in-house content improvement projects including author bio reviews, taxonomy audits, frontlinking, and more as needed.
• Collaborate regularly and align with the full Parents editorial team on cross-team projects, editorial packages, digital issues, as well as on and offsite opportunities that improve content quality.
• Work with cross-functional teams to help drive SEO, visual assets, product, video, email, commerce, performance marketing, and social strategies forward.

About You:
• 2+ years of experience writing, editing, and publishing digital content, ideally with a focus on parenting, health, or lifestyle content
• Organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven with the ability to talk through visual concepts with visual editors
• Strong editorial skills, keen sense of how to develop content that serves a targeted reader intent, and ability to work with SEO data and insights to help drive editorial decisions
• Proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic team player with strong interpersonal communication skills, cultural competence, and the ability to partner with others with empathy and shared motivation
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills, organizational and project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
• Passionate about all things today's families care most about-with a strong desire to help answer their most pressing questions
• Interest in learning current SEO best practices to inform editorial decisions and analytical skills to identify growth opportunities and measure performance
• Experience using digital publishing tools like content management systems, SEO research tools, analytical tools including Google Analytics, and task management tools like Google Sheets and Airtable
