CNN is seeking a Senior Director of Content Analytics who will be instrumental in leading and fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making. This individual should be self-motivated, work well independently and as part of a team, and be passionate about what they do. The role will be responsible for leading a team of data analysts and data scientists who analyze audience and engagement trends through behavioral, quantitative and qualitative data to guide product and editorial decision-making across a variety of platforms.
The Senior Director will report to the VP of Audience and Engagement Analytics.
Your Role Accountabilities...
The Senior Director of Content Analytics will:
• Develop comprehensive methodologies to assess performance of individual pieces of content compared to expectations
• Deeply understand, measure, and explain the news cycle, providing assessments of content and overall digital performance relative the news cycle of the day
• Support the growth and deepening of audience engagement for content delivered via streaming products and produce best-in-class insights with tangible opportunities for editorial teams to act on
• Inform long-term content strategy through deep analytics and modeling synthesized with research
• Drive the development self-serve tools for the newsroom to be able to quickly understand performance and inform real-time decisions for coverage and content promotion
• Co-lead the conversation on digital performance in daily news meetings with editorial partners
• Partner with audience and engagement analytic teams to evaluate how content drives overall reach and deepens engagement
• Develop and lead a team of data analysts who partner with product and editorial teams
• Execute on the analytic strategy of content groups within CNN, building programs to deliver data analysis, experimentation, and survey-based research in support of product and editorial decisions
• Evaluate existing and develop new metrics, reports, and dashboards for internal audiences; create consistent and documented data definitions for key content metrics
• Apply both quantitative disciplines and creativity to translate data into actionable insights through data visualization
• Define and validate data by working with business partners to ensure data quality and alignment with company-wide data logic/naming conventions
• Work with internal or external data partners to process, organize, and connect various data sources, including content metadata, behavioral user data, and third-party audience and customer satisfaction data.
Qualifications & Experience...
• 10+ years of experience in data/analytics or related field
• 3+ years of experience managing and building an analytics team
• Experience with BI tools (e.g. Looker, Domo, Tableau, etc.)
• Significant experience using SQL to explore and analyze large data sets in cloud environments
• Experience with providing data requirements while working with structured and unstructured data sets
• Experience with digital news, streaming content or relevant digital analytics experience plus strong interest in news

Nice-to-Haves...
• BA/BS degree or higher in Math/Stats, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related quantitative field
• Industry knowledge of digital streaming services and how to approach them with an analytical lens strongly preferred
• Experience working with editorial teams
• Strong background in experimentation and statistics
• Experience with writing Python and R scripts

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $147,966.00 - $274,794.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
