Assistant Music & Sound Editor

Job Description

The Assistant Music & Sound Editor provides administrative, technical and creative support to the music and sound editorial department.

Responsibilities:

Music Editorial Support
• Maintaining music library server
• Cataloging records imported from music library
• Music requests: importing music into Media Composer
• Research emerging film scores and composers
• Assist with session conforms
• Transport session material between Media Composer and ProTools
• Media management: video, audio, digital and paper
• Under the direction of the Music Editors, help research and place specific music cues in
• sequences

Archive Support
• Prepare and execute audio file transfers and conversion
• Check final audio deliveries: check naming, sync, critical monitoring to ensure accuracy
• of stems
• Maintain department back ups
• General Support
• Maintain existing and create new documentation for the music and sound editorial
• department's workflow and practices
• Assist in the development of department standards and practices

Qualifications:
• Proficient with Pro Tools
• Proficient with Macintosh OS (mid-high level user)
• Experience with database management with tools such as Soundminer preferred
• Audio to picture experience (Media Composer, sync, surround)
• Responsible, excellent attention to detail. Self-starting, team player
• Ability to multi-task and remain steady under pressure
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Inquisitive and creative problem solver
• Willing to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends) and/or overtime on short notice
• Basic music theory and terminology knowledge and/or musical training
• Passion for all types of music
• Audio engineering experience is a plus
