Position Title

Linguistic Quality Specialist (Individual Contributor)

Position Summary

As a Linguistic Quality Specialist, you will be instrumental in supporting our Linguistic Quality programs and working with a group of specialists to set and execute translator performance strategies. The Linguistic Quality team is focused on improving and maintaining the overall quality and versatility of our distributed workforce of linguists and ensuring compliance with client-specific quality program metrics targets and SLAs. You will collaborate with various teams to implement appropriate corrective actions and monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions over time. With your collaborative spirit, you will maintain a supportive environment for linguistic quality management at scale.

Main Duties
• Actively participating in reactive and preventive linguistic quality assessments and initiatives
• Preventive: Participating in analyzing data to interpret and spot trends and developing training, instructions and targeted quality programs
• Reactive: Monitoring and responding to escalations from internal and external sources, performing root cause analysis and determining preventive actions
• Monitoring and responding to quality escalations from clients, production teams and translators. Carrying out preliminary research to assist senior team members with root cause analysis.
• Identifying and escalating problematic issues and trends to Linguistic Quality management
• Gathering, maintaining and reporting Linguistic Quality metrics
• Consulting freelance Language Leads and evaluators for evaluation and feedback validation as required
• Reviewing, editing and sending feedback to translators as well as handling their responses
• Directing appropriate feedback to production teams to ensure best practices that support translation quality
• Categorizing translators into quality tiers based on performance metrics, quality scores, evaluations and feedback records
• Weekly updates to production teams for changes in tier categorization
• Based on trends and performance metrics, make recommendations for translator participation in or removal from client-specific programs
• Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned

What You Bring
• Degree in Translation, Modern Languages, Localization Management or equivalent experience
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and fluency in at least one other language
• A passion for languages and dedication to quality
• An attraction to applying deep critical thinking to difficult problems
• An attraction to analyzing data, creating reports and data-driven insights
• Demonstrated ability to provide feedback in a constructive and tactful manner
• The ability to engage with a culturally diverse, distributed team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience in prioritizing and working in a fast-paced environment
• Team player, detail-oriented, ability to multitask and work under deadline
• Mastery of Microsoft Office or Google Suite

Preferred Skills
• Translation experience, preferably in audiovisual translation
• Experience in subtitling or captioning
• Software or gaming localization experience
