Lead Linguist - Korea
Job Title:
Lead Linguist
Primary Responsibilities:
The focus of the role is to improve and ensure the overall quality and versatility of our distributed workforce of linguists and translators. This role will ensure compliance with client-specific quality program metrics targets and SLAs. You will collaborate with various teams to implement appropriate corrective actions and monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions over time.
• Actively participate in linguistic quality assessments and initiatives
• Analyse data to interpret and spot trends and developing training, instructions, and targeted quality programs
• Monitor and respond to escalations from internal and external sources, performing root cause analysis and determining preventive actions
• Monitoring and responding to quality escalations from clients, production teams and translators. Carrying out preliminary research to assist senior team members with root cause analysis.
• Identify and escalate issues and trends
• Ensure accurate and culturally sensitive translations
• Consult with language leads and evaluators for feedback validation, as required
• Review, edit and provide feedback to translators as well as handling their responses
• Direct appropriate feedback to production team members to ensure best practices that support translation quality
• Evaluate translation quality of our collaborators based on performance metrics, quality scores, and feedback records
• Weekly updates to production teams for changes in tier categorization
• Oversee and ensure that team tasks are assigned and completed on a timely manner
• Train and mentor newly hired QA Specialists or editors
What you bring:
• A minimum of 5 years of subtitling related experience
• A degree in Translation, Modern Languages, Localization Management or equivalent experience
• Strong written and verbal Korean and English communication skills
• A passion for languages and dedication to linguistic quality
• An attraction to applying deep critical thinking to difficult problems
• Strong time management and communication skills
• Must be organized and detail-oriented
• An attraction to analysing data, creating reports and data-driven insights
• Demonstrated ability to provide feedback in a constructive and tactful manner
• The ability to engage with a culturally diverse, distributed team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience in prioritizing and working in a fast-paced environment
• Team player, detail-oriented, ability to multitask and work under deadline
• Mastery of Microsoft Office or Google Suite
• Knowledge of subtitle editor tools
• Experience in subtitling or captioning, preferably in audio-visual translation
