The CNN Engineering team is hiring a Staff Engineer for the Ad Experiences team. This is a great opportunity for an individual that is passionate about advertisement technologies, user experience, metrics, and looking for challenges to balance revenue goals and cohesive experiences for the consumer.
As Staff Engineer, you will assume a technical leadership role on the team and provide support for the team leads and engineers through your deep technical knowledge. You will lead the conversations for the architecture for new products, be a collaborator with A|B testing new experiences, champion best engineering practices through alignment with CNN technical leadership, and work directly on the implementation of new digital products.
The Daily
• Take on a technical leadership role and guide technical direction in partnership with engineering, product, and design partners.
• Lead technical design, discovery, technical planning, and status discussions within your team, where you'll help set direction and context, and identify any gaps or blockers.
• Be involved in discussions around high level planning, roadmaps, and status with teams across the organization.
• Partner with other internal teams (Mobile Apps, Video, Ads Stakeholders) for implementation strategies and collaboration.
• Be a mentor for other engineers on the team.
• Contribute to documentation, peer reviews, and code quality efforts across the platform through thoughtful code reviews and ensuring code standards.
• Communicate effectively and facilitate meetings for collaboration efforts with other internal stakeholders.
Skills Required:
• Full stack development experience with an emphasis on front end coding, including JavaScript, Modern frameworks, HTML/CSS & Responsive design
• Experience with Ad Technology and integrating services / SDKs (third-party or otherwise) for ads, analytics, audience engagement, and media asset management.
• A|B testing and instrumentation experience for testing consumer facing products.
• Experience building, testing, shipping, and maintaining highly performant consumer applications.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience in effectively communicating with a wide range of technical and non-technical job functions within an organization.
Nice to haves:
• Understanding of engineering best practices for Web Vitals, Performance, Analytics and Accessibility.
• Experience with AWS services or other Cloud Platforms.
• Familiarity with a wide range of languages, frameworks, platforms, API's and/or SDKs.
• Knowledge of building solutions for high traffic websites.
• Knowledge of Operations, CI/CD, and DevOps.
