Job Description
Our CMS Platform team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help lead the next generation of CNN's content creation and publishing technology. The CMS Platform team builds and operates the editorial tools, services, and systems that empower journalists and product teams to create essential, facts-first storytelling at global scale.
Our focus areas include a cloud-native content management system, collaboration and workflow tools, foundational APIs, data and analytics capabilities, and the editorial interfaces that support content creation across CNN.

You will help ensure our editorial experiences remain fast, intuitive, reliable, and capable of supporting innovative storytelling for audiences around the world.
Your Role Accountabilities…
As a Staff Engineer, you will collaborate closely with engineering partners, product managers, and designers to:
• Architect and evolve the core APIs and systems that power content creation across CNN.
• Drive improvements in collaboration frameworks and user experiences that support editors and writers working together in real time.
• Build tools and workflows that reduce friction and improve developer efficiency.
• Advance platform capabilities across analytics, metrics, permissions, and intelligent backend features including undo/redo and self-service publishing.
• Shape system quality, scalability, and reliability for a platform that supports thousands of daily users and millions of downstream consumers.
You will influence the technical direction of a platform that already delivers a world-class editorial experience, while helping expand it with new features and architecture that push the platform forward. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the systems that power CNN's global journalism.

Qualifications & Experiences…
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven record of driving initiatives that involve engineering culture change through evangelism and structured processes.
• Ability to align with company goals and lead initiatives through technical discussions, proposals, and execution planning.
• Deep industry experience with modern development technologies, with hands-on familiarity across both client and server systems.
• Strong understanding of core software data structures and algorithms.
• A passion for professional growth and continued development along an individual contributor path.
Nice to Haves…
• Experience working on Kanban or Scrum teams and familiarity with project management tools.
• Active participation in the open-source community.
• Experience with interviewing and talent acquisition.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $128,100.00 - $237,900.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
