The Job

WarnerMedia seeks a Senior Section Editor (Deputy Editor) for the Commerce department, overseeing editorial efforts of CNN Digital's reviews and recommendations site, CNN Underscored. You will help to run the daily editorial operations and processes, help the editorial director ideate content strategy for both short- and long-term projects, manage the editorial calendar, and manage content programming efforts across web and email.

You will assign and edit stories based on retail events, sales, seasonality, and trending products and services, and will do some writing as well. You enjoy owning an edit calendar and working with a team of writers and editors to develop editorial that fits the CNN Underscored brand.

The Daily
• Support the editorial director's efforts to optimize content strategy to increase audience and revenue for Underscored
• Maintain editorial calendars, keeping them up-to-date and holding the team to deadlines
• Manage the editorial programming editor and optimize content programmed across the CNN website and Underscored email newsletters.
• Work closely with the Underscored Lifestyle editor, guiding strategy for content creation as well as measuring performance and tracking against team goals
• Coordinate with internal resources and external partners for execution of editorial initiatives
• Assign and edit articles, product reviews and consumer guides
• Manage other off-site content creation and programming

Level of Responsibilities/Accountability & Scope
• Strong sense of latest digital commerce publishing landscape and trends
• Experience managing an editorial team
• Proven track record of growing audience and revenue for a major publisher (e-commerce brand preferred)
• Receives work in the form of short-term assignments that often require the application of independent judgment
• Work is subject to regular supervisory review at regular intervals
• Operates within the context of defined procedures

The Essentials
• College Degree preferred
• At least 7 years of experience working for a major publisher, with at least 3 years managing an edit calendar and other team members
• Robust experience using Excel and project management tools like Monday.com
• Superb top-editing skills
• Experience editing for a commerce publisher a big plus
• A passion for journalism, unwavering dedication to accuracy, and dogged reporting skills
• Strong editorial sensibility and a love for shopping guides and product reviews that educate, inform, and enlighten readers
• Strong creative and writing skills and flawless grammar and spelling
• Detail-oriented, extremely organized, collaborative, and strong communication
