Please note this is a hybrid position and requires you to work from our studio for part of the work week. This is not a remote opportunity.
We are looking for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join our accounting team! The role is responsible for full-cycle accounts payable function as well as assistance with the month end reporting obligations including bank reconciliation and some balance sheet reconciliations and the maintenance of the Debtor and Creditor aged balances within the finance department and will report to the Senior Financial Accountant.

What you'll get to do:
Accounts Payable
• Full-cycle accounts payable duties
• Receipt, tracking and distribution of incoming invoices for approval
• Responsible for AP email management
• Matching approved purchase orders with approved invoices
• Data entry of invoices into Great Plains
• Production of weekly/fortnightly/monthly Electronic Funds Transfers as well as creating international payment runs
• Reconciliation of creditors' statements on a monthly basis
• Production and distribution of remittance advices
• Answer vendor inquiries and complete vendor reconciliations when required
Banking
• Responsible for the timely deposit of funds into the company's bank account
• Maintaining the minimum cash balance
• Reconciliation of bank accounts
Other responsibilities will include:
• Petty cash - Distribution of petty cash and per-diems to staff members, reconciliation of petty cast float and coding of expenses
• Travel policy - Ensuring the companies' travel policy is enforced, tracking and reporting of travel expenses against appropriate costs centres/jobs
• Maintenance of the creditor and debtor aged balances
• Company credit cards - Monthly reconciliation of company credit cards and data entry into financial software
• Assistance with the balance sheet reconciliations
• Responsible for the accurate maintenance of relevant filling systems
• Ad-hoc requests
• General team support
What you bring:
• 3-4 years' previous experience in similar function
• Intermediate Excel and Word proficiency
• Good organisational skills
• Attention to detail
• Time management skills, ability to prioritise tasks
• Excellent communication Skills
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Strong desire for continuous learning and development
• Resilient with a strong ethical manner
• Ability to follow internal controls and finance processes
• Previous experience with Great Plains (preferred but not essential)
