Digitizer, ABC News - Part Time

Working as part of the ABC News Multimedia Ingest Team, the ''Digitizer'' is responsible for the ingest and quality-control of all analog and digital media to our enterprise class multi-workspace post-production server. Reporting to the Digital Operations Managers, the Digitizer handles media ingest for all ABC News shows, platforms and projects for the News Division. The Digitizer role is based out of our Media & Technology Center at our New York campus.

Responsibilities:

The Digitizer will field media ingest requests from production teams and work with other digitizers to see these requests through to completion in an efficient manner and within deadline. The Digitizer is responsible for carefully handling physical media assets from production teams while a request is ongoing. As media is ingested into the editing server, the Digitizer will use various hardware and software to quality-control check the ingested assets to ensure that the media is ready for edit and immediate broadcast on the ABC TV network, as well as streaming platforms.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of relative experience (strong educational and/or internship experience considered)
• Working knowledge of Avid Media Composer is required.
• Candidate must have the ability to work in a high-pressure News environment and should be able to handle and prioritize unexpected deadline changes during breaking news events.
• Excellent communication skills and organizational skills are a must.
• The ability to work weekdays, weekends and nights. ABC News is a 24/7 facility.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional experience working in an Avid Interplay/MediaCentral envi Professional experience working in an Avid Interplay/MediaCentral environment (strong educational and/or internship experience considered).
• Professional experience using Avid Capture (Strong educational and/or internship experience considered).
• Experience with live recording of video feeds, studio cameras, and conducting audio booth recording sessions.
• Experience with routing video sources using a software or hardware router panel.
• A basic understanding of color workflows within the Avid Media Composer environment.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
