KSN is looking for a multi-media journalist, photographer and editor ready to take their skills to the next level. This is a hybrid that includes several days of photography and editing and several days of reporting, including photography, editing, writing and development of on-camera presence. The journalist we hire will be gathering news and telling important stories, whether in front of or behind the camera. We are looking for someone to be an active member of a community and willing to take their journalism skills to the next level. The right candidate will tell personal stories, hold officials accountable, develop sources, work quickly and effectively and share stories on all our platforms. JOB SUMMARY: Gather and report news and feature stories, blogs and other material originated by the reporter, as assigned, and read them accurately, clearly and concisely and in an engaging manner. Gather video, maintain video equipment, edit video for broadcast and online content.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
o Evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas. Gather and verify accurate information about newsworthy events by interview, investigation, or observation.
o Gather accurate and interesting information, shoot and edit video for broadcast and digital presentation.
o Produce accurate, complete and compelling news copy on deadline.
o Build network of sources who supply information that allows the Company to stay ahead of its competitors.
o Develop ideas for news, feature and enterprise pieces stories.
o Present compelling, clear, creative and accurate live shots.
o Set up and execute live shots.
o
Organize material, shoot and edit video and write stories based on the details and information obtained.
o Edit video for minimum of two newscasts per week, including video from local and national sources.
o Use various digital and social platforms to give updates and share news stories with the public.
o Play an active and visible role in the community.
o Flexibility to work any shift, including overnights, weekends, evenings.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
o Strong reporting skills.
o Understand importance of social media.
o Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills.
o Must be fluent in English - Bilingual/Spanish a plus.
o Strong photography and editing skills
o Promote teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all station personnel
o Adept at ad-lib presentations, without aid of scripts and/or teleprompters.
o Possess exceptional research skills.​

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field, prefer minimum of (2) two years of experience as on-air news reporter, however strong collegiate and internship experience will be considered.

TRAINING/EQUIPMENT: Operate newsroom computer systems, editing and camera equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: High stress environment with deadline pressures. Travel will be required on a regular basis. Position requires the transport of equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. Position often requires work in extreme outdoor temperatures. A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
