The Challenge Ahead:

A Development Director I manages a variety of disciplines including artists, designers, software engineers, QA and other production staff. DD's are the keepers of the project schedule and help move the development team from one project phase to the next while ensuring a collaboration and communication. They must partner closely with producers to ensure that they are managing the project on time, to quality, and within budget

What a Development Director does at EA:

In an Agile environment, manages a direct and indirect development team which generally consists of Software Engineers, Animators, Artists, and Designers.

Work with feature development teams to lock down requirements and specifications.

Maintain communication with project team and coordinate requirements with all partners.

Establish project schedule and lead across multiple geographical locations to delivery dates

Establish project budget, determine task requirements, and assign tasks to team resources

Identify task-related processes to improve efficiency

Assess and mitigaties risk for assigned scope

Ensure each projects setup meets the specifications with Studio.

Track and implement project improvement plans to guide team efficiency.

Define engagement practices: Ensure all workflow is clearly defined, processes are documented, and staff trained in expectations on the workflow.

Participate and drive resourcing, hiring, performance reviews, team building, and team health

The next great EA Development Director also needs:

An EA Development Director is expected to have at a minimum: 7 years of experience in a software development environment, 5 years Project Management or Project Lead experience, and 2+ years of leadership experience

Bachelor's degree in any number of related fields including Computer Science, Game Development, Business.. Master's degree is a plus. PMP is a plus

Excellent knowledge of production life cycle, tools and projects planning.

Experience in a Scrum / Agile software development environment. Scrum Master Certification is desired.

Experience establishing project plan and project budget, determining task requirements, assigning tasks and implementing operational changes.

Proficient in tools such as Jira, Hansoft, Perforce, and Confluence

Experience working on console development would be a plus

Experience working with broad diverse teams. Experience leading multi-location and remote teams is a plus

Mediation and conflict resolution skills

Fluent in English
