Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Strategy
• Partner with Department Supervisor to create and manage the department budget, deployment, and schedule
• Apply critical thinking to problem resolution; communicate needs, provide options and make recommendations; know when to listen, question, and report
• Create alternative strategies in the event of significant changes to film complexity and/or resources
• Communicate scheduling goals and guide the team toward milestone deliverables
• Balance multiple perspectives: Individual, Department, Show and Studio
• Team Leadership
• Exercise strong leadership skills to inspire and guide a team to success
• Partner with fellow leaders (Department Supervisor, Lead(s), Department Head(s)) to manage the department and share the responsibility for the growth and success of each team member through feedback and mentoring
• Provide clear goals and direction and ensures collaboration within the department
• Provide guidance, instruction, and mentorship to the Department Coordinator(s), Production Assistant(s), and Production Intern(s). Assign, delegate and oversee projects and tasks. Set the appropriate tone, be the example
• Lead reviews, Producer checks, team check-ins, and other relevant meetings: Set agendas, goals, monitor pace and shift priorities as needed
• Unify and motivate the department
• Liaise with Production Leadership, Department Heads, and Human Resources to ensure timely and effective responses to issues or concerns
• Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluation processes
• Collaboration
• Partner with the Production Leadership to complete a feature film on time and on budget
• Skillfully negotiate with both internal and external groups to solve problems and broker agreements
• Establish a positive rapport with the Production Manager and other Production Management, communicating relevant information in the spirit of collaboration and mutual support
• Influence people and results without micromanaging
• Process
• Responsible for moving inventory through the production pipeline
• Strategize with the Department Supervisor to identify, prioritize and implement new department process
• Look for ways to maximize efficiencies; develop collaborative processes
• Oversee production database input and reporting and produce customized reports appropriate for the intended audience

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5 or more years of experience in a feature film production environment or equivalent industry experience
• Minimum 2 years managerial experience in film production or related field preferred
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in feature animation production preferred
• Expert understanding of the production pipeline, dependencies, and ability to solve problems strategically
• Strong aptitude in processes and the Production Management tools needed to support the department. Ability to produce customized reports appropriate for the intended audience
• Ability to prioritize the department's workload with attention to schedule and budgetary limitations
• Ability to work independently; self-motivated and resourceful
• Ability to plan and prioritize work effectively to lead the department forward
• Ability to adapt communication style to influence the audience or situation
• Ability to delegate and/or provide appropriate autonomy to the team
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships at all levels
• Adaptable; able to effectively respond to shifting priorities
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Ability to seek and receive feedback openly; own and learn from mistakes
• Strong emotional intelligence; able to read the room
• Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
• Strong ability to command a room
