As an Associate Product Counsel for YouTube, you will work with the YouTube Product, Engineering, and Trust and Safety teams while collaborating with partner teams across Alphabet. You will help launch products and policies promoting compliance with U.S and international laws and regulations, with an emphasis on content regulation, privacy, copyright, and consumer protection issues.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$299,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Resonsibilities:
• Provide legal support for YouTube regulatory compliance efforts, domestic and international in multiple areas, including content regulation, consumer protection, privacy, copyright.
• Provide legal advice on YouTube efforts to foster a responsible and open platform, including initiatives related to content moderation, election integrity, harmful misinformation and borderline material, health information, and preventing bias.
• Provide legal advice to teams from Engineering, Product Management, Advertising Sales, Marketing, and Communications from the initial stages of product development to launch.
• Collaborate with YouTube's Trust and Safety, Public Policy, and teams across Alphabet on policy development in multiple areas, including content regulation, consumer protection, privacy, copyright, and other emerging areas of law applicable to digital content.
• Develop expertise in global content regulations and collaborate with other product counsel to advise cross-functional teams on the impact of these laws for YouTube.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:
• JD, an equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience with attorneys work in one or more of media, communications, intellectual property, privacy, and contract law.
• Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state of hire.

Preferred qualifications:
• 5 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience in content regulation, privacy, media, communications, intellectual property and contract law, as well as demonstrated litigation.
• Experience in regulatory compliance involving enforcement of laws, engagement with law enforcement or regulatory agencies, regarding digital content.
• Ability to work collaboratively, cohesively, and strategically.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
