Job Summary/Description:

WWSB-TV, the ABC Affiliate in Sarasota, is seeking its next Nightside Digital Producer / Assignments Editor. This is a great opportunity to enjoy Florida's Suncoast in the morning, and then gather and grow breaking news stories in a Digital First, Producer-Driven Newsroom in the afternoon and evening. In the afternoons and evenings, you'll be at the helm of the newsroom bridge. You'll be expected to exercise solid news judgment and multi-task. Experience in digital content creation is helpful, but our team will train the right candidate on the essentials, like publishing web stories, pushing news alerts and posting content on various social media platforms.

In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for our crews in the field, and our viewers, as they call in with questions and news tips. Instinctively, you'll be the first one to pick up the phone to confirm those tips and others, that come through feeds and overhead on scanner traffic.

Most exciting, you'll also contribute to station initiatives, like jumping on our Live News Desk and supporting ABC7 News on all of its multimedia platforms. Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Gathering story ideas from social media feeds, emails, phone calls and scanner traffic
- Confirming and distributing story details to newsroom teammates
- Writing and publishing stories under deadline
- Operating and presenting from the station's Live Desk and PodCast studio
- Copy Editing digital stories produced by other teammates
- Collaborating with nightside team, including Digital Content Manager and Assignments Manager, to achieve daily and weekly operations and planning goals
- Video Editing as assigned and necessary for Digital Projects

Qualifications/Requirements:
• College degree, internship and on the job experience is essential
• Assignment Desk operations experience helpful
• Demonstrated ability to write for the eye and the ear
• Collaborative, Empathetic, training-centered approach necessary
• Knowledge of Arc, Social News Desk, Edius, and VMix preferred
