WTXL, the E.W. Scripps owned ABC affiliate located in the Capital City of Florida, is in search of an ambitious Senior Reporter who is a self-starter. As a member of the ABC 27 News Team, you will pitch, gather, produce, and deliver stories that make a difference to the communities we serve. The Senior Reporter provides the station with top-level reporting for multi-platforms. The right candidate will also be able to coach and provide guidance for new Multimedia Journalists at the station. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Generate ideas for stories for multiple platforms.
• Report live on location from various news events as needed.
• Prepare a factual story.
• Research stories through personal contacts, the internet, and other sources deciding the best angle and approach for the story.
• Collaborate effectively with News, Promotion, Production, and Engineering on daily broadcasts, special projects, and online coverage.
• Participate in community events.
• Build a network of informational sources to provide exclusive stories for the Scripps brand.
• Meet all production deadlines.
• Periodically required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments.
• Provide guidance for other Multimedia Journalists at the station.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Journalism (or related field)
• 5+ years of experience in television reporting

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Strong communication skills, oral and written
• Storytelling abilities
• Ability to promote an attitude of teamwork with station employees
• Exceptional on-air personality
• Multitask multiple stories
• Advanced ability in critical thinking
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits
