Job Description

WTXL, the E.W. Scripps owned ABC affiliate covering news in Florida's Big Bend & South Georgia is in search of a Sr. Neighborhood Reporter to help lead the ABC 27 Sunrise show.

In this role, the reporter will cover the Monticello neighborhood in Jefferson County.

The right candidate will be an innovative newsroom leader with exceptional storytelling skills and strong news judgement.

The Sr. Reporter will be expected to shoot, write and edit stories that will air in the morning show.

The Sr. Reporter will also have a role in the Sunrise show presenting news headlines of the day, along with covering breaking news events that happen during those overnight hours.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Generate ideas for stories for multiple platforms.
• Report live on location from various news events as needed.
• Front a morning show segment from the studio daily.
• Have the skills to go live from the studio in the event of breaking news.
• Prepare factual stories.
• Research stories through personal contacts, the internet, and other sources deciding the best angle and approach for the story.
• Collaborate effectively with News, Promotion, Production, and Engineering on daily broadcasts, special projects, and online coverage.
• Participate in community events.
• Build a network of informational sources to provide exclusive stories for the Scripps brand.
• Meet all production deadlines.
• Required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments.
• Provide guidance for other Multimedia Journalists at the station.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Journalism (or related field)
• 5+ years of experience in television reporting

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Ability to promote an attitude of teamwork with station employees
• Exceptional on-air personality
• Multitask multiple stories
• Advanced ability in critical thinking
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits
