Job Summary/Description:
Your Hometown News Leader is looking to hire a full-time News / Sports MMJ to help pave the way for a new type of sports reporting, focused on our community and the casual viewer. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, has good organizational skills, and can deliver energetic, compelling content across multiple media platforms, under tight, pressure-packed deadlines. This position is a great opportunity for a talented MMJ, producer, or recent college graduate. This position is a 3-2 rotating split between news and sports. News4 Sports covers Auburn, Alabama, Troy, Enterprise State, and Wallace College athletics in addition to all area high school sports. We also produce several sports specials each year on various events including Future Masters and the Iron Bowl.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Develop and execute unique content daily from your assigned topic or beat
- Contribute to editorial meetings, including pitching stories and giving feedback to others
- Produce daily content and special projects for broadcast and digital platforms
- Maintain journalistic integrity and professionalism
- Live elements, including anchoring opportunities, will be available
Qualifications/Requirements:
• ️ This person must be creative, energetic, competitive, and a problem-solver with strong communication and reporting skills. The ideal candidate demonstrates compelling storytelling, photography, and videography skills that go beyond play-by-play action. We are looking for someone who is both a team player and a solo star, focused on urgency and clarity
• ️ Real newsroom experience experience and a degree in journalism or a related field is preferred. Exceptional knowledge of a broad range of sports is required. This person must be able to work a flexible schedule and pass a Motor Vehicle Report
