Job Summary/Description:

Your Hometown News Leader is looking to hire a dynamic, experienced journalist. This position centers around delivering compelling stories to communities in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, but it also comes with unique opportunities to grow as an anchor, team leader, and journalist. This is not an entry-level position. The ability to work on tight deadlines, calmly relay breaking news, and have strong writing skills are essential. Shooting, writing, and editing, as well as strong social media skills are required.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Anchoring live television broadcasts, primarily for our evening newscasts.
- Using editorial judgement to help determine the content of the newscasts. Reading through and proofing scripts before going on-air.
- Creating news packages for on-air and digital platforms, including regular franchise or special reports, as assigned by news director.
- Community engagement through attending, hosting, or speaking at local events.
- Posting and regularly updating stories and other material on digital and social media. Interaction with viewers on social media is a must, particularly through Facebook Lives.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• A degree in journalism or a related field is preferred. We are looking for someone to join the team, hit the ground running, and lead by example. Strong, demonstrated news judgment is key to success in this role.
