About WTVM:

WTVM-TV became the first television station on the air in Columbus, Georgia on October 6, 1953. WTVM continues to be the News Leader in the Columbus television market. The DMA stretches across the state line into portions of east Alabama and Auburn University. With a staff of 40+ news professionals, we broadcast more than 4 hours of news each day on WTVM and well as providing news for WXTX, the area's FOX affiliate & WLTZ, the area's NBC affiliate.

Job Summary/Description:

WTVM is searching for a sports professional ready to take on all the Chattahoochee Valley has to offer. The Columbus, Georgia DMA includes nearby Auburn University and is home to many dedicated college sports fans. Our proximity to the adjacent Atlanta market also requires a candidate with experience in covering MLB, NFL, NBA & MLS teams.

+ Weekend sports anchoring for evening newscasts.
+ Sports reporting 3 days during the week.
+ Fill-in opportunities for weekday sports anchoring.

The ideal candidate will interface with the WTVM sports director, assignment editor and newsroom managers to enhance and maximize our coverage opportunities.

Furthermore, with a DMA covering counties in two states, a successful sports anchor/reporter will build strategies for effecitvely covering high school athletics in Alabama & Georgia.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred
- Demonstrated mastery of digital and social media strategy
- Excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritize tasks and information under pressure are required
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have scheduling flexibility
