Job Summary/Description:
WTVG-TV, the number one rated station in Toledo, Ohio is looking for a dynamic meteorologist/MMJ to join our award winning First Alert Weather Team. The perfect candidate will be able to take their passion for complex weather science and adapt that into easy-to-understand forecasts for our viewers. This meteorologist will be able to remain cool under pressure while dealing with high-intensity severe weather events like tornado warnings and ice storms. The Met will also turn three stories a week as an MMJ. The majority of those stories will be fun and weather related. The meteorologist will also engage in community outreach efforts like school visits and festivals.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Two days a week weather forecasting and three days reporting.
- Build accurate forecasts and creative graphics for own shows and pre-produce for teammates
- Community interaction such as festivals and school visits
- Excellent on-air presence and confidence covering severe weather
- Posting on station-branded social media accounts
- Respond urgently to changing weather conditions
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Climatology, or a related field.
- Proficiency with TWC Max Weather Software
- Social media production and interactivity skills
- Flexible on schedule for severe weather coverage
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent ad-lib skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to write web stories detailing the weather forecast
