Job Summary/Description:
This role will work an overnight shift. A successful candidate will have strong time management skills, work quickly under tight deadlines, and communicate clearly with the Daybreak team. The News at Daybreak is the first time many viewers are getting news they haven't seen on their phones. This role will be vital in making the best use of our viewer's time each morning through urgent writing, impactful video, and dynamic presentation in studio and in the field.
Other responsibilities could include, but aren't limited to:
-Selecting stories for newscasts
-Writing scripts and creating graphics
-Editing video for newscasts
-Line producing up to an hour of live newscast each morning
-Producing cut-ins during network morning show
-Producing streaming newscast each morning at 7am
-Posting breaking news to website as needed
-Sending push alerts for breaking news as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
-Any time in a working, professional newsroom
-College degree in communications or journalism is preferred, but not required
-Strong writing skills
-Knowledge of the Associated Press Style Guide
-Familiarity with non-linear video editing
