Job Summary/Description:
WRDW/WAGT is looking for an experienced TV news anchor and MMJ to join our weekday morning news team. This position requires anchoring daily as well as daily MMJ reporting. This is not a position for feature reporters, hosts, or anchors who are reluctant to report in the community.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Anchor morning and noon newscasts.
- Show up prepared to take an active role in the editorial process.
- Research, gather, write, edit, and develop content for multiple platforms.
- Represent the station in various community service activities, including hosting and speaking, at community and station events.
- Responsible for staying up to date on local events, news, and issues.
- Cultivating local community contacts and mining those contacts for exclusive content.
- Deliver unscripted breaking news clearly and concisely
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in a TV newsroom as an anchor or MMJ/fill-in anchor.
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field.
- Must be able to speak clearly and concisely.
- Must connect on camera with a sense of urgency.
- Proven track record of skilled reporting, anchoring, writing, videography, and editing.
- Knowledge of newsroom computers and logistics.
- Creative and editorial judgment, ethics, and libel law.
- Work well alone and with co-workers under tight deadlines.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, proof of insurance.
- Able to lift 30 pounds.
