Meteorologist, WPTV

WPTV, The E.W. Scripps affiliate in West Palm Beach is searching for a meteorologist to analyze meteorological data gathered by satellites and radar to prepare reports and forecasts for the public.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Interpret and analyze weather data to create local forecasts
• Report information ''live'' in scheduled newscasts, during unscheduled cut-ins, on-line and on social media as needed
• Develop graphics and presentation of weather information
• Report on a variety of subjects and write stories for web, broadcasts and special pieces
• Participate in certain aspects of newscast anchoring including some copy delivery and interviewing
• Report and anchor live from the field in various weather conditions with engaging movement and interaction
• Conduct live interviews
• Participate in community outreach projects and public appearances
• Work closely with the management and weather teams to develop coverage that offers depth and context
• Provide guidance and direction to other meteorologists during breaking weather coverage
• Assist management in strategic planning for weather event
• Demonstrate a deep knowledge of tropical weather
• -Work with the entire meteorology team on delivering critical hurricane coverage to our community in times of emergencies

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Bachelors degree in Meteorology
• At least years 5 years experience

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Thorough knowledge of weather data interpretation and analysis and forecasting
• Ability to deliver weather information in a concise and understandable way
• Actively engaged in posting content to various platforms
• Strong organizational, time management and problem solving skills
• Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
• Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
• Enthusiasm for all aspects of weather
• Ability to explain the science behind the weather and everyday impact it has on our viewers.
• Skilled at working under deadline pressure and multi-tasking.
• Ability to create dynamic computer generated graphics including animated, virtual and lifestyle-impact graphics
• • Computer and social media literate, including newsroom computer systems
• In studio
• In field for remote broadcasts, reporting.
