Job Description

Nexstar Inc., America's largest local broadcasting company, is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Sales Manager to lead its sales operation, as part of its operational and management agreement with Mission Broadcasting, providing sales services to WPIX-TV in New York City, the #1-ranked market in the country.

In this role, the General Sales Manager will have full oversight over Nexstar's sales operations at WPIX-TV (CW), as well as the station's digital, mobile and social media assets. WPIX-TV is owned by Mission Broadcasting, and Nexstar Inc. provides operational and management support under the terms of a Local Programming and Marketing Agreement.

Nexstar is searching for an accomplished leader with a proven performance record of revenue and share growth, new business development, innovative solution-based selling, and non-traditional revenue development along with best-in-class client services and unparalleled client relationships. Ability to build partnerships and develop deep commitment to community engagement and service are fundamental requirements.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have demonstrated effective marketing solutions and results across multiple platforms, promoting teamwork within all departments associated with sales and a proven record of success in sales efficiencies and the ability to overcome obstacles in the sales process.

Essential Duties and Requirements

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of sales management experience at a commercial broadcast television station with accompanying digital assets. The right fit for this position will be a veteran sales leader who is a knowledgeable professional, driven to succeed, and able to motivate a sales team to overachieve the station's competitive position. This position requires a leader with a strategic vision, focused execution, and a proven record producing exceptional revenue results. In addition to having a proven track record of managing high-performing sales teams, the successful candidate must be effective in collaborating with department heads, staff members and promoting teamwork within all areas of station operations. The ability to engage local business, community leaders and develop long-term relationships with key station clients is essential.
