Job Summary/Description:
The executive producer is responsible for the overall look and editorial content of all newscasts, which includes working with Media Control Center personnel responsible for putting those newscasts on the air. And this person is also responsible for producing special projects and special assignments from time to time and also to fill in to ''line'' produce newscasts in the absence of regular ''line'' producer. This person also assists in evaluation of news employees each year and assists the news director in reviewing, interviewing and hiring news department personnel.
Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
-- Overseeing daily production of all newscasts.
-- Participation in strategic news planning sessions with news consultant and researcher.
-- Overseeing implementation of new formats and special projects developed in strategic planning sessions.
-- Producing special programming outside of regularly scheduled newscasts.
-- Working with individual reporters and backpack journalists producing stories for newscasts.
-- Serving as fill-in line producer for newscasts during vacation periods or illness.
-- Posting news stories to our webchannel.
Qualifications/Requirements:
-- Bachelors degree in Journalism, Communication or related field.
-- Prior experience as a line producer
-- Prior news management experience
-- Strong writing and organization skills
-- People skills and verbal as well as written communication skills
-- A minimum of 5 years experience in television news.
-- Strong news background with the ability to make news judgments in pressure situations.
