Job Description
WOOD-TV, WOTV, and WXSP-TV is seeking to add an experienced Investigative Reporter to its award-winning news team. Through our decades of collective experience and tip-driven, enterprise reporting, ''Target 8's'' investigations have changed state laws, solved crimes, helped free wrongfully convicted people, exposed abuse, neglect and even deadly cover-ups. Our goal is always to produce high-impact, high-quality, innovative projects on-air and in the digital realm. Our investigations matter to our community and improve the society in which we live. The successful candidate will work with our Executive Producers, Assistant News Director and veteran team of investigative reporters and producers to develop stories and special reports for television, as well as web-exclusive projects. The successful candidate must have a demonstrable ability and willingness to produce groundbreaking investigative content on a deadline. This not an entry-level reporting position.
• This reporter will be expected to find an investigative angle on daily coverage. These stories go beyond the basics of general assignment reporting and storytelling to also: uncover a problem, hold those responsible accountable and press for a solution, and break investigative angles when a major news story arises. In addition, the reporter will work on larger, long-term investigations and continued follow ups.
• Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Produce accurate, complete and compelling news copy on deadline
• Write and deliver news stories in a clear and concise manner
• Collect and analyze facts about newsworthy events by interview, investigation, or observation
• Must have the ability to report on stories of all topics, especially breaking news, generate story ideas, display an on-air presence that is friendly and authoritative, and have a high-level of engagement on all social media platforms

Requirements & Skills
• Bachelor's degree in broadcast Journalism or related field preferred
• 3-5 years of investigative experience preferred
• Track record of enterprising story ideas and developing key sources
• Solid vocal delivery and engaging camera presence
• Experience in court reporting/data research & analysis
• Adept and knowledgeable about use of Freedom of Information Act
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
